Kel-Suu lake
Kel-Suu is a high-mountain lake of glacial origin, located in the southeastern part of the Naryn region near the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, at an altitude of 3500 meters. The lake is amazing with its views - the water in it is bright blue and contrasts very beautifully with the harsh rocks surrounding it. This is one of the most beautiful and at the same time inaccessible places in Kyrgyzstan.
Kel-Suu is a dam-type lake formed in a large crevice between rocks. Most of it is not visible from the shore, and therefore, in order to see the whole lake, you need to sail on it in a boat. The length of the lake is 9 kilometers, and the width varies from 500 meters to 2 kilometers at its widest point.
The lake has one unusual feature, in honor of which it was given such a name: Kel-Suu, translated from Kyrgyz, translates as “transient water”. Indeed, sometimes the water disappears, flowing into underground caves and grottoes, and therefore, before going there, you need to keep in mind that the lake may not be caught, however, in this case, alien landscapes with rocks will open to you.
The lake is located on the hard-to-reach Kokshaal-Too ridge, and the way there lies through the vast Ak-Sai valley and is replete with swampy places and fords, which can only be handled by a trained car and an experienced driver. The road to the lake from the camp itself is also picturesque: high mountain pastures, rivers, herds of yaks and peaks of glaciers on the horizon will not leave anyone indifferent.
Since the lake is located in the border area, a border pass is required to enter.
