Djeti-Oguz valley
Djety-Oguz Gorge (also Jety-Oguz, Jetyoguz, etc.) is one of the most popular attractions in the Issyk-Kul region. It is located 30 kilometers from the city of Karakol and attracts many tourists, both local and foreign.
Djety-Oguz, translated from Kyrgyz means "7 bulls". Such a specific name was given to the gorge because of the red clay rock mass, which is a kind of hallmark of the gorge. The rocks have a very bright color, and this is quite a rarity for the Tien Shan mountains.
Djety-Oguz is also famous for its balneological resorts, where there are radon and hydrogen sulfide sources. The resort is located at an altitude of 2200 meters and can accommodate up to 250 people at a time.
The gorge has a rather large length - almost 40 kilometers, and throughout this vast territory there are a huge number of interesting places to visit. Jet-Oguz waterfalls are widely known, among which is the Maiden Braids waterfall, beloved by tourists, so named because of the bizarre pattern of water flowing down the rock.
12 kilometers above the resort is the Valley of Flowers, on which the Cosmonauts' Houses are located. And this is not a poetic name at all; in Soviet times, participants in space flights really trained and rested here. A large number of trees grow here, and in May this small valley is covered with a carpet of poppies.
A large number of tourist routes pass through Jety-Ozuz. From here you can go to the Karakol gorge and Lake Ala-Kul through the Telety pass, you can get to the Sarychat-Ertash nature reserve or admire the peaks of Oguz-Bashi and Zhukov.
